To become a member of our freelance team, you must have at least two years of translation or interpreting experience, a degree from an accredited university, have easy access to email, use basic translation software tools. This qualification process includes filling in our online application form and translating a short text for each language pair you wish to qualify in.

Position Summary:

Smarthinking, Inc. is hiring motivated individuals to serve as part-time online writing tutors. A Washington, D.C.-based education organization, Smarthinking, Inc. provides real-time, online tutoring and learning support to colleges, universities, high schools, and textbook publishers.


Candidates can work from any location with computer and Internet access. Tutors typically work anywhere from 8 to 19 hours a week. To qualify, individuals must have substantial teaching/tutoring experience in composition and an enthusiasm for online education. The ideal candidate will have training and/or experience in one or more of the following areas: MA or Ph.D. coursework or degree in rhetoric, composition, literature, and/or English education; specialty coursework, degree, or teaching/tutoring experience in English as a Second Language (ESL); and/or teaching experience in developmental and first-year English composition courses.

Amazon’s Virtual Customer Contact Center is growing, and we’re adding another Recruiting Coordinator to our team.  Most Amazon applicants are also Amazon customers, so this position plays a critical role in ensuring all candidates have a great experience from beginning to end.

The successful candidate will be responsible for process improvement and acting as a recruiting systems subject matter expert.  S/he will also own high volume sourcing, interviewing, and hiring work from home customer service and tech support Associates and Leads, among other roles, in multiple states.  S/he will also assist hiring managers through the internal job posting and promotion process.

The successful candidate will also partner closely with peers across the US to introduce and share best practices to constantly “raise the bar” on applicant experience and hire the best.  This position is part of a larger virtual HR team, and as such there are multiple opportunities for cross-training in employee relations, benefits, payroll, and other HR areas of expertise.

  • Working with remote and Seattle-based managers to post positions internally and externally
  • Drive successful hiring ramp(s)
  • Primary screener for candidate applications including primary dispositions
  • Able to effectively manage multiple high volume requisitions for both internal and external candidates.
  • Scheduling interviews and phone screens; working directly with candidates and hiring managers, in some cases arranging travel for visiting candidates.
  • Updating candidate records and job postings in recruiting systems and confirming new hires.
  • Providing follow-up correspondence to candidates on recruiting status via phone and email.
  • Tracking recruiting activities and providing candidate status in a weekly report.
  • Identifying recruiting trends and recommending remedies
  • Coordinating the post-interview debrief meetings and providing debrief materials.
  • Identifying opportunities for improving candidate experience and scheduling efficiency.
  • Assisting in the coordination of other recruiting and on-boarding activities as needed.
  • Working with Virtual US HR Team on building an effective recruitment strategy to meet hiring goals including communication with advertising vendors, job fair hosts and community events.
  • Ensuring data integrity, as well as full federal and state compliance.
  • Reviewing and analyzing recruiting data for trends and areas of opportunity
  • Regular, and sometimes daily, report outs to senior leadership
  • Conduct New Hire Orientations
  • Partner with other stakeholders: other HR Team members, Managers, Workflow, Training, Payroll, and the Employee Resource Center

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or another closely related field.
  • 2+ years of experience with high volume, fast paced production staffing, to include recruiting, interviewing, and selecting candidates.
  • Superb customer focus, attention to detail and organization skills
  • Intermediate skills in Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, chat, and Internet.
  • Experience with web-based applicant tracking systems (i.e. Taleo, iCims) and HRIS systems (i.e. PeopleSoft)
  • Experience with pre-hire assessment testing
  • Knowledge of OFCCP, EEO, and Affirmative Action data tracking requirements
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience with process mapping and improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to function independently and exercise sound judgment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience hiring candidates in a virtual/work from home environment
  • HR Generalist / employee relations experience
  • Project management experience
